SMITTEN WITH THE DELICIOUSNESS OF ANOTHER YEAR.
to doing. to making. to becoming.
A year ago, I posted a picture on Instagram. It said,
8:07AM. Ready to start coloring in this year, as brightly as ever.
Within three months from that moment, I found myself in a study of stillness. A nasty tibial stress fracture that went far too long without diagnosis, had me out of the dance studio and resting in my apartment for the next six months.
My world drained - solace stolen - just like the black and white photo I posted the morning of my twenty-third birthday. Life without dance was not a livelihood I knew. And the threat of not being able to return to my fullest physical capacity was constantly on my mind.
But deep down, I knew this was happening for me, not to me.
I enrolled myself in a photography course.
I started taking more time to eat my breakfast.
I had the time to meditate and dig into my spirituality.
I went to acupuncture.
I surrounded myself with people who never failed to inspire me or make me laugh.
I got quiet, really quiet, and began to believe in my body more fully than I ever needed to before.
The combination of this time, allowed a deep investigation into what other ways my heart bursts with passion. Movement is certainly a pillar, but it's not the only thing...
More importantly, huge shifts were underway in the way I treated my body, approached movement, the gratitude I showed daily, and the mediums/methods I was willing to express myself..
So here is a grandiose celebration, a big, beautiful Birthday Batter smoothie bowl to kick off
a state of mind,
a state of being,
a state of healing.
Today I'm celebrating how damn colorful life can be by launching a creativity + wellness blog.
I'm enormously grateful for the aesthetic and voice I've found during my recovery and hope to express more and more through this platform.
CHEERS, TO YOUR NEW YEAR, AND MINE.
LET THIS TWENTY-FOURTH YEAR BE ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS.
